New Year, New Focus
Along with the New Year, we are changing both our focus and format here. Reviews will no longer be your traditional board game reviews as I realized that I never wanted to really straight up review games in the first place. Board games, to me cannot be reviewed based on component quality, rule book, or quality of mechanics. To me, I tend to enjoy board games based on two criteria.
1. Does it offer a lasting visceral experience?
2. Is it fun?
What do I mean by a “lasting visceral experience?” I mean a game that leaves a long lasting impression on me for whatever reason. It also tells an immersive story or puts the players in the middle of an impactful story or experience? Some of these games offer a unique or emotional experience. Some games, such as “The Lost Expedition” tell stories based on the gameplay or happenings to its characters that leave an impact.
Some games are just fun, short and simple!
These are the games that I will say….
LEAVE IT ON THE TABLE…because they are so much fun or leave such an impact that you want to play them again! This is the only label that games will get from me.
Either they are good/fun enough to LEAVE ON THE TABLE,
or they’re not!!
Short and simple.
